Two-Step Equations
Example: 3 + 10r = 163
Step 1: Subtract 3 from both sides, 10r = 160
Step 2: Divide both sides by 10, r = 16
You can also check if your answer is correct.
Put r = 16 on the left hand side of given equation, 3 + 10 (16) = 3 + 160 = 163, which is the same as the right hand side. So, the answer is correct.
Example: -2p + 1 = 1
Step 1: Subtract 1 from both sides, -2p = 0
Step 2: Divide both sides by -2, p = 0
Check you answer: Put p = 0 on the left hand side of given equation, -2p + 1 = -2(0) + 1 = 1, which is the same as the right hand side. So, the answer is correct.
